Alitalia flight attendants and ground workers walked out today over a pay dispute, which forced the airline to cancel over 160 flights at Milan's Malpensa airport and more than 50 flights at Linate airport. Dozens of flights were also canceled in Rome.
Continental Automated Elite Upgrades: Continental Airlines has announced the installation of its Elite Upgrade Automation System making upgrades easier and more rewarding for their elite frequent flyer members. Automatic upgrades for qualifying reservations differ depending on elite status, fare type and time of reservation. Code share flights are not eligible for these upgrades, only Continental operated flights operating a first or business class (not BusinessFirst). Discounted fares: platinum members are upgraded within three calendar days of departure, gold within two days, and silver same day of departure. Full coach fares: platinum and gold are eligible to upgrade anytime after ticketing and silver two days prior to departure.

Pro Air grounded: The Federal Aviation
Administration today issued an emergency order revoking the operating
certificate of Pro Air, Inc. The airline operates three B-737s in scheduled and
supplemental passenger service centered on Detroit City Airport, but has its
headquarters in Seattle.
